General Medicine
Sometimes pets develop illnesses or injuries and need more than routine care. Dr. Ballas, experienced in emergency, shelter and general medicine, is skilled at detection and treatment of many diseases and conditions including:
- Diseases of the kidneys, liver, and other internal organs
- Thyroid, adrenal, and other endocrine diseases
- Infectious diseases
- Dermatology
- Arthritis
- Cancer treatment and chemotherapy
- Pain management
- Geriatric care
Our on-site laboratory services and digital x-ray equipment allow us to diagnose medical problems without delay, fill a prescription at our pharmacy, and send you home with the least amount of inconvenience for your pet or you. In the few cases when your prescription is not available on site, we will gladly call it into a pharmacy for you.
Surgery
Occasionally pets require surgery, whether it is a simple spay or neuter, or a more complicated procedure. Dr. Ballas is an experienced soft tissue surgeon with a background in emergency, shelter, and general medicine. She is able to provide you with the excellence you need for your pet’s care. We screen all patients carefully for safety, and we tailor anesthetics to the needs of your pet. Pain management is an important part of every surgical intervention—compassionate and humane treatment is the hallmark of our program.
If your pet requires highly specialized surgery, or if you just want the comfort of a second opinion, we refer to the best: board certified surgeons and specialists.
